PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Alcohol Float is a specially designed machine that will remove pecan weevil larva from nutmeat. Although operating this float requires a liquor license, commercial processors that own these machines believe that is well worth the trouble. The float fluid is a mixture of ethanol and water. This mixture has a specific gravity such that allows the nutmeat to sink, but the weevil larva floats. The larva is skimmed off of the surface of the water, and the nutmeat is conveyed away with a belt.
